A check with Jim Carrey’s publicist confirmed that Carrey will not be attending this year’s Oscar® gala.
Carrey seemed to be over-looked for an Oscar® nomination for his brilliant portrayal of the late song-and-dance-man Andy Kaufman. This resulted in an outcry by Carreyholics and various others, even to the point that a call for a boycott of the Oscar® telecast was voiced.
The AMPAS Oscar® celebration will be broadcast March 26, 2000.
