Sightings

Postby AdaL » Sun Mar 27, 2016 10:48 pm

I was having a mooch around the site and found the 'sightings' section and wow, what a collection of lovely stories. This one is particular got to me..

"Sorry folks, I met him when I was seven (a LONG time ago *ahem*) and I doubt I'll ever meet him again! But, when I was but a wee lass my brother used to hang out with Jim. My father had recently passed away and I was NOT a happy kid. Jim used to make me laugh, no small task in those days! Even as a teenager, he worked his tush off just to get a laugh. Ever since I have watched his star rise and am very happy for him. Recent stories of his personal problems upset me... he's been my "Laugh Resort" since I was seven years old and I only hope that he can be happy too! Laugh and be loved because the World laughs and luvs ya Mr. Carrey! "

Kind of in an emotional mood anyway, but this one made me feel
He touches individual lives in a way he quite often isn't aware of, I expect. I often think how I've pretty much never heard of anyone having a bad encounter with him, where he was rude or unpleasant and that's pretty much unheard of for such a big star. A very nice man he is.

Haha..

Reminds me of that video he did a few years back when he got his arm fixed? If I remember correctly, he almost couldn't get the op done because he ignored the nil by mouth rule and ate a peach.

I'm basically going to use this as my unashamedly gushing thread now, but this video was recommended to me on YouTube the other day.
It's from 2011 I think, but so effing sweet. What a lovely, charming man..

Oh gosh, of course. I don't imagine for a second he never has a bad mood but the fact he makes the effort to be charming with the public, particularly when he has endured the attention on a huge scale for so long, speaks volumes.
You can find accounts of pretty much all celebrities being kranky or rude with fans/the public to some extent or another (even the 'nice' ones) but I can't recall seeing any bad encounters with Jim.
The video I posted was short but very sweet; I just liked how he was attentive with everyone and even though I'm sure he wanted to escape, he still made everyone there feel special; he seemed genuinely concerned for the girl whose camera wouldn't work. Many celebrities in the same position look harrassed and begrudging but he exuded warmth despite the fact that he most likely just wanted to leave ASAP.
I notice little things like that and they say so much about a person's character. He's a very good egg.
