Jim Carrey the artist

Post by TNPihl »

By Nicola West (Editor/Writer (UK))

Many of you will know that Jim Carrey has been in New York the last months filming the familymovie "Mr. Popper's Penguins", in which he portrays a successful businessman who inherits six penguins.

But you might not know that whilst there, Jim was doubling up as a working artist based at Julian Schnabel's studio, where he rented space. Jim subsequently treated his Twitter followers to previews of his abstracts, where they were received very positively.

His mostly acrylic based pieces are expressive, highly kinetic in execution and include a self portrait as well as assorted word based paintings. He's said to be working on a very large piece which he hopes to reveal on his website JimCarrey.com, we can't wait!

Very bold colors, with abstract objects.

I like the blue skull one, lots of graffiti-like perceptions yet it's his own creative touch.

I would buy his pieces, if I had the money to do so, lol.

I like the idea of his big imagry. How large the words were with "faith and hope". Also the idea of the green painting with it's lines that are very curvy and spontaneous, going in different directions then sharply off the canvas.

Very interesting.

Re: Jim Carrey the artist, I like to draw too but..

I use a little budda board,
I draw on it then what I put on it disappears
it's neat to see what happens when the water
starts to disappear
That's the sum of my artistic venture

I like the "Green" painting, when I looked at it, it reminded me of
fingers giving off a lightening bolt

Look up what red signifies for "Chinese New Years"
A Red Jim hmmmm very interesting

Also I know which of his paintings appeared on Mr. Popper Penguins.

Perhaps the eyes signified an emotion
and not a colour
who knows
only the
creator knows
for sure

They are really fantastic does he sell them, Tony Curtis used to paint and sell his work because a friend I used to know had one hanging on the wall.
