Sonic 3 vs. Bruce Almighty: Can It Overtake Jim Carrey’s Top Hit?

"Sonic the Hedgehog 3" has now grossed $478,293,000 worldwide, adding $6,298,913 in the last week. While it continues to perform well, surpassing Jim Carrey’s all-time box office hit Bruce Almighty ($484,592,874) is looking increasingly difficult. However, with a few weeks still to go, it’s far from out of the question.
The movie has been in theaters for several weeks, and as is typical, box office earnings tend to slow as a movie ages. With Sonic 3 now playing in fewer theaters and its digital release drawing more viewers to home platforms, its theater revenue is expected to dip further. On top of that, new movie releases are providing stiff competition for audience attention.
While the odds are against it, Sonic 3 still has a chance to surprise and potentially surpass Bruce Almighty, but time is running out for the blue blur to close the gap. It’s certainly possible, but it will take a big push in the coming weeks.
