Jim Carrey to Receive Honorary César Award
04 Oct 2025 By Eva Araújo (Web correspondent)
The César Awards are the French equivalent of the Academy Awards (Oscars). Presented annually by the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma, they honor the best in French cinema across various categories, including acting, directing, writing, and technical achievements. The awards are named after sculptor César Baldaccini, who designed the statuette.
This year, the ceremony will take place in Paris on February 27th.
Jim Carrey will receive the Honorary César Award, which pays tribute to the career achievements of distinguished artists and filmmakers.
The Académie issued a statement about the decision:
“In his films, he creates exuberant, unrestrained, and unforgettable characters that have become a core part of popular culture. His career is marked by exceptional versatility: in film, he alternates between blockbusters and auteur cinema; on television, his moving and sensitive performance in the Showtime series Kidding once again confirmed the breadth of his talent.”
Jim previously received France’s prestigious National Order of Arts and Letters medal in 2010 from French Culture Minister Frédéric Mitterrand for his significant contributions to art and film.
We’re so excited about this! Jim truly deserves this honor!
