Jim Carrey's Penguins will march into theaters in August

20th Century Fox has announced today that Jim Carrey's family comedy "Mr. Popper's Penguins" will release on August 12th, 2011. The movies competition in the same weekend is the DreamWorks animation "The Help" and Sony Pictures comedy "30 Minutes or Less," which is meant for a different crowd.
"Mr. Popper's Penguins" has been on the fast track, with 20th Century Fox closing Jim Carrey's deal this summer and production start in the beginning of October. Fox acquired the screen rights last year.
Synopsis:
Mr. Popper (Jim Carrey) is a high-powered, New York business man who suddenly inherits six penguins. Taking care of the animals is no easy matter, and he quickly hits major hurtles, both at home and at work. But along the way, he learns the value of family and friendship--human and otherwise.
