The
soundtrack to the film is one of the film's only downfalls. The
film seems to try too hard to be a musical, with cast members breaking
into forced song at the most inappropriate times. Only a handful
of the songs actually fit into the story line and don't come off
as cheesy, and ironically those are the ones sung by the Grinch
himself. Worse yet, Momsen doesn't have the voice needed to be the
lead she is in almost every song.
Never-the-less,
Universal's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is a joy
in every sense of the word. The film has many lessons appropriate
for children today, as well as humor intended for both the young
and old to entertain everyone in the audience.
