The weekends estimate numbers are ready:
No. 1 / Yes Man / $6,525,000 / 1 day (19-12-2008) / Total $6,525,000
No. 1 / Yes Man / $6,700,000 / 2 days (20-12-2008) / Total $13,225,000
No. 1 / Yes Man / $4,935,000 / 3 days (21-12-2008) / Total $18,160,000
An ok $18 - 19 million opening for "Yes Man". There should still be good chances for it to hit $100 million at the box office. Hopefully between $100-140 million.

Yes why not.
between 100-120 is realistic
between 120-140 is optimistic
This weekend was a bit low maybe because of the weather. The other new movies had also a slow start.
But I hope "Yes Man" has good legs. We will find out the next days and the next few weekends.

If Dick and Jane, with poor reviews, pulls in 110 m after garnering 21 m on a four day weekend...then Yes Man, with better reviews and a feel good message could hit 125 - 140 m (domestic). Of course, a little dose of global thawing would help the box office.
Here in Las Vegas, we were recovering from two snow storms within the last week. The streets, malls and theatres were quiet.
The initial estimates of 30 - 50 m for Yes Man (at least at this web site) would have been reasonable with a different release date but late shopping and horrific weather proved to be a powerful 1 - 2 punch.
Movie goers typically like Carrey comedies a lot better than reviewers. Dick and Jane powered its way to 110 m by word of mouth after a slow opening. Likewise, Yes Man should have a lengthy run at the box office.
Last point - has any Carrey comedy ever garnered more positive reviews than negative? If memory serves, even main stream box office winners like Bruce had mixed reviews. And yet, Carrey's last five nonanimated comedies (since 2000) have averaged 164.5 m (domestic) and 278.0m (worldwide). Clearly there is a disconnect between high browed reviewers and the movie viewing public.
Bottom line - go see the movie. It is a funny film that you will feel good about.

Yes Man - Box Office "Christmas Day Update"!
Yes Man "VERY STRONG" with an estimated $5.8 Million on Christmas Day! (December 25th)

Looks Headed for $17-19 Million in it's 2nd Weekend at the box office which may end up being the same or perhaps a little more than it did during it's first weekend of release!
