Just saw it over the weekend. It wasn't as funny as the first film but I think it might grow on me on repeated viewings. I really think the best part of the film was the ridiculous battle scene with the numerous rival news team towards the end of the film. Jim had an uncredited cameo as the lead anchor for the CBC News. He pretty much did what you expected from Canada; being polite and talking about hockey

Good opening for the comedy. $40 million the first week is great. It will easily gross $100 million the next 1-2 weeks.

This were the Numbers for Anchorman (2004) :

US: $85,288,303 (94.2%)
Foreign: $5,285,885 (5.8%)

An extreme difference like this is unusual in most cases when comparing the US with the rest of the world, but for Will Ferrell it's the story of his carreer, this is what 80% of his movies do. He is succesfull at home, but outside the US many of his "classics" were doing very bad. And that didn't change so far.

I just hope it actually comes out overhere, cause I'm in for sure!

I did not see Anchorman 1
so seeing Anchorman 2
without one
I think I missed out on some
of the original humour
So I suggest if you
see Anchorman 1 first
then enjoy 2

I knew, but apreciate the effort. What I wanted to say was that the first one had a release date also and was taken of the list a month before it came out, same story with some other Ferrell movies. (Old School, Semi-Pro, etc)

Old School actually got cancelled after the press-screening, I was there. The distributor wanted to wait after that before making up their minds. Cause they couldn't understand the positive vibes that were going on in the US. They thought this would never work overhere ... And they got it right. Wilson, Vaughn and Ferrell weren't going to sell any tickets according to them. People from respected sites and magazines actually left the theatre while the movie was only at the first half of it's running time. And I agreed, it was terrible. But I refuse to leave movies before the end credits show up.

You never know how it turns out.

So, Anchorman 2 will not be in theatres in The Netherlands, I believe Belgium (as always) will follow. I already fear the BLU RAY not coming either, only DVD.

I saw it in the weekend in Denmark. It was really funny. Will Ferrell and Steve Carell did a great job in this movie. Many good laughs.

Paramount changed release dates for many countries in Europe for the Summer. Belgium has got the new date - June 18, 2014.

The movie is doing ok in many countries, so there should be a good chance that it will get release.

I loved the first one, while none of my friends did. I couldn't stop laughing at one point, they were annoyed by the movie, lol.

Universal Pictures International stated Anchorman 2 is not performing good enough in Europe so far and the release in The Netherlands is cancelled for that reason. The release date for Belgium has been moved a second time now. In most of the cases that's not a good sign. As history learned us, there's a chance they will cancel it here also.
