There’s a new update for fans eagerly waiting to see what’s next for Sonic the Hedgehog 4. According to the movie’s copyright preregistration, production on the highly anticipated sequel is currently expected to be completed in January 2027, according to the film’s copyright preregistration.
While that may sound like a long way off, fans will be happy to know that the movie’s main filming had already wrapped back in May. The additional production timeline could include remaining work such as visual effects, post-production and other finishing touches as the team prepares the latest Sonic adventure for audiences.
Of course, one of the biggest questions still surrounding Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is when we’ll finally get our first full trailer. Paramount has yet to announce a release date for the trailer, leaving fans waiting for their first proper look at the next chapter in the popular movie franchise.
For Jim Carrey fans, there’s also plenty of anticipation surrounding the return of Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Carrey’s wildly entertaining performance as Sonic’s eccentric nemesis has become one of the most memorable parts of the franchise, and fans are naturally eager to see what the filmmakers have planned for Robotnik this time around.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters March 19 2027, giving fans plenty to look forward to as production and post-production continue behind the scenes.
With filming already wrapped and the next Sonic movie moving closer to completion, the wait for that first full trailer is now one of the biggest milestones on the horizon. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before Paramount gives fans their first major glimpse at what’s in store — and, of course, more of Jim Carrey’s Robotnik!
