Jim Carrey makes a Prison Break!
04 Jun 2007

By Nicola West (Editor/Writer (UK))

Variety reports that Jim Carrey will star in "I Love You Phillip Morris," a dark comedy, written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the team behind "Bad Santa" and produced by Andrew Lazar and Far Shariat. Based on a book by Steve McVicker, the true story based film casts Jim as Steven Russell, a married father whose exploits land him in a Texas jail where he falls madly in love with his cellmate, who eventually is set free leading Russell to escape from Texas prisons four times.

The film combines the lighthearted, romantic and dark tones and Luc Bessons company Europacorp is set to finance it with a bargain $20 million budget. No indication yet of a timeframe but Jim is said to be engaging in back to back films before the SAG contract expires next summer.

We'll report on this as new information comes to light!
