Jim's Comments about Mr. O'Rielly

Postby sam » Fri Nov 30, 2001 2:37 am

I hope Jim reads this himself. I've been a fan of his since he started on "IN LIVING COLOR", seen all his movies and even red his autobiography. I really love this guy but he really pissed me off when he said O'Reilly was distorting the facts about the September 11 donations. If it wasn't
for Mr. O'Reilly looking out for the little people like me who knows if any of the people who suffered so much would get a single cent. Who gives a dam if all the Hollywood clan members can do a wonderful benefit if none of it goes to the people who it was intended for in the first place. It's very sad for me to say this because I know Jim had a hard childhood but I think he's forgetting where he came from now that he's rich and famous.

Hey, don't be mad at Jim...

Hey, everyone has a right to their own opinion...you may not agree with Jim and that's ok...but don't go blaming him for speaking his mind.

Jim's comments about O'Reilly

Postby CinnamonGirl » Fri Nov 30, 2001 12:17 pm

While I definitely think that there should be some investigation into how the funds are used, I agree with Jim that there are trained accountants to do this sort of thing. Its not as if the celebrities just selected some random fly-by-night charity and asked people to donate to it. The Red Cross is a very well established charity that has been helping out people in need for many years.

I hope that all of the problems with distributing the money are quickly fixed so that those in need can get the help that they need as quickly as possible. I was happy to read that the Red Cross has decided to NOT reallocate some of the funds from the September 11 fund to other causes as well. People donated to this fund specifically to help those from NYC and Washington.

Let's just thank the people who donated!

No, I'm sure Jim Carrey didn't forget where he came from! In fact, he remembered so well that he donated 1 million dollars! How many others did that??? I agree with CinnamonGirl! Thank you Jim for being so generous with your time and money.

I had started this topic on the Stop the Presses page, because I didn't look here! Oops.. sorry bout that!

First of all, who here commenting on O'Reilly actually watched O'Reilly? Cause, I did.. he did not call for celebrities to actually oversee where the money went.. He called on them to lend their celebrity status to GET THE WORD OUT about the charities not doing their jobs.

Second of all, The United Way was the charity involved with the Tribute on Sept 21st. The Red Cross and The United Way both came under fire by Mr. O, but the Red Cross backed down and did the right thing.. not cause it was the right thing, mind you, but because they were getting bad press. Anyway... all I know is I won't donate to Red Cross or United Way because they are dishonest, and I can't trust them.. I'll donate to the Salvation Army and other charities, but not them.

I think, and this is just speculation, that Jim actually agrees more with Mr. O than he let on, but took the easy way out by both condemning and applauding both O'Reilly for bringing it to our attenion and the celebrities that are being condemned for not coming forward... again, I mean coming forward to help get the word out, not to see where the money goes.

I was a little bit disappointed by Jim, but... feh, I don't really care all that much. So, I don't agree with him... I still love him, think he's incredibly talented, and a genius at entertainment.

Kel
