VOTING

Postby Canadian Jayne » Fri Jun 25, 2004 1:06 pm

This is not about politics just about VOTING
A man named Aristotle who lived over 2000 years ago
said about government Think about this when you vote)

Quote:
The line that divises good from bad forms of governemnt is determined by the answers to the following questions: First, does the governemnt serve the common good of the people who are governed, or does it serve the selfish interests of those who wield the poser of governement? Governement that serves the self-interest of the rulers is tyrannical. Only governemnt that prmotes the good life of the ruled is good. Second, does the government rest merely on the power at the disposal of the rulers, or does it rest on laws that have been made in a way to which the ruled have agreed and in the making of which they have had a part? Government that rests solely on might or force, whether it be in the hands of one man or more that one, is despotic, even when it is benevolent or well-disposed rather than tyrannical. To be good, government must have authority that those who are ruled ACKNOWLEDGE and accept, not merely power or force that they fear and submit to from fear.

I wasn't going to vote, I thought why bother.
We become too passive, or just give up.
But I decided, if I want change, I am responsible for me and if it applies to me then I should not take the back seat, but I should do
SOMETHING. So I voted early.
We have the freedom to VOTE, just do it, then we can at least have a voice.
In Canada, even if you are not registered, you can still go in that same day, register and vote, it is not that hard to do. I recently was visiting family in New York and they made me go to see "Ground Zero" My cousin had lost a few friends and colleagues in the bombing and is still very angry at the fact that this administration has still not found Bin Laden and everything focused on Iraq which has nothing to do with 9-11. Everyone I talked to in the East was pissed off that this administration is constantly lying and avoiding the Bin Laden/Taliban issue. I assumed they'd all be "God Bless America" flag waving patriots, but instead they were just plain frustrated and bitter. I hope they take the time to vote to let their voices be heard. Change is way overdue on this one.

USA

Postby jesussheepforever » Mon Jul 05, 2004 5:11 am

I hate to say this on a day like today but I am not happy with America right now. I will not vote for kerry or bush. something very serious is happening in my life now i am going to court and the judge is rude to me. I know when God does test you it makes things very hard but I will not go against him and stray! it just hit me. people lie. the reason i am going to court right now is because of a lie that somone said about me that is not true. What a sad world we are living in when he have to SLANDER others just to make a buck off of somone who doesn't have that much money in the first place.

Everyone has a say so, everyones voice counts.. why not vote?
I can't wait until I'm of legal age.
