In Living Color?

Postby gothichyppie » Mon Nov 13, 2006 5:51 pm

I've noticed that there aren't many posts about In Living Color. There is lots of material in there and Jim's contribution to the show is one of the funniest things he's ever did. Ever since I've purchased the series, I've been wanting to discuss it but I've never had the chance. I mean what are your favorite sketches and such... How about it?

his contribution to ILC is immeasurable, since in my opinion the Wayans Brothers just repeated themselves over and over again. Fire Marshall Bill and Vera DeMilo are timeless characters....definitely worth buying the DVDs to see the sketches. it's never too late to go back and catch them...!

If you look, you'll notice that Vera De Milo and Fire Marshall Bill are the characters that lasted for longuest period of time. Funny how the censors waited for the 10th sketch to stop Fire Marshall Bill, way to go!

Yeah, I check them out at the library all of the time! Then one day I did a few impresions of Fire Marshall Bill and a few people knew what I was doing and so came the nickname Fire Marshall Bailey! Every once in a while we create some skits off of that character and everyone wants me to preform them for the talent show. So I'm going to! Thanks to Jim for bringing me so much success in school, but not school work, that's Ben Franklyn's job!

I just love Vera da Milo! I love doing impressions of her. I would expect Jim to do something like that, but then again, I wouldn't. :)

Trying to keep the thread alive :deal: -
Jim played a great variety of characters and many times it was because he was actually the only white man in the cast. Jerry (Jehri) Lewis is a good example, I mean it was perfectly logical for Jim to play him but again, who else could have? I think this way of adapting himself to different parts, merely by default and doing an awesome job with it really shows the talent he has. What do you think?

My favorite bit from these sketches is when he does that annoyed face and hand gesture to the camera, I don't really know how to explain it, you know what I'm talking about! Jim based Jack this on his own grandfather, that's a bit sad. :?

Totally agree with you gothichyppie.
Does anyone else think that Dickie Peterson and the cable guy are pretty similar?

A young Cable Guy, definitely!

I also believe Marshall Fire Bill helped Jim get the part for The Mask, they both got that very cartoonish quality.
