Will Jim Carrey be a presenter at the Oscars?

Postby Cheryl Anna » Sat Feb 19, 2005 1:51 am

Let me know if he is going to be a presenter at the Oscars. He might because Kate Winslet is nominated for Eternal Sunshine.....

Yeah, Jim shouldn't be interested. They clearly show no interest in his outstanding TALENT!

that is so true.... why would he attend a celebration that keeps ignoreing him as an actor.... he has presented i think 4 times and (68th, 69th, 71st, and 76th i believe) i think he should present again unless they give him what he deserves.... which is a win.... a nomination at the least......i saw million dollar baby and clint eastwood is nothing special.... just acts like clint eastwood (which he does in every movie)...so why do they acknowledge him but not Jim when Jim does something original every time he makes a movie..... it makes no sence

I am sad and disappointed that Jim Carrey will not be at the Oscars this Sunday. I was looking forward to seeing him on t.v. this Sunday, but since he has chosen not to be there, then I won't see him. I do accept his decision-he has the right to make his own decisions because he is a person, but when he was there in the past-he sure livened things up.
I will watch the Oscars this Sunday-but I will miss him.

QUIRKY, I saw it the other day too!

Postby Canadian Jayne » Wed Feb 23, 2005 6:17 pm

I saw "Ray" the other day too, it is a very good film and the performance was great.
I want to see the one about Cole Porter, I wonder what it's like.
YA, Jim WILL GET AN OSCAR, it just has to be the right time and the right film. Sometimes we learn patience by the things that don't happen.
Frustrating but true.
BUT IT WILL HAPPEN.

I agree, Jim will win Oscar on some day.
But, I recently read on some Finnish Movie forum where someone wrote:
" If The Truman Show, Man On The Moon or Eternal Sunshine would had been the three FIRST films ever made by Jim Carrey, I´m sure that critics would praise him to the skies and consider him as a genious and he already would had won an Oscar or two"
He / she is SO RIGHT!
Of course Jim already is genious of comedy, but WHY it always has to be something serious that critic will praise you?!
I think that making people laugh is much harder than make people angry or sad.
Riddle me this...Riddle me that! Who's afraid of the big black bat?

I think one has to FIRST get their foot in the door,
then take off from there and......
FLY, :D O:)
:D :D a show always needs and introduction, itinerary etc.
A career takes a lifetime, espcially in the film business.

I do not agree that Jim Carrey should only attend the Oscars if he is nominated. He should be a good sport and support his friends (Kate Winslet-nominated for Eternal Sunshine...for one).
Bob Hope, a famous comedian, hosted the Oscars many times. He never won an Oscar. He had class. At one Oscar show, he said, "Welcome to the Oscars-or as they're known at my house-Passover" During his lifetime, he was an example of good-sportsmanship and class.
But it is Jim Carrey's decision not to go to the Oscars. He can be a selfish (blank, blank) if he wants to be.

he is not being selfish he just doesnt want to take the time to attend an event which has not recognized him when he deserved it. He has presented 4 awards during his career so he has shown he is a good sport, but he doesnt need to go every year..... maybe this year he didnt get an invitation.... you never know....
