And now for my interpretation of what happened...

for those who have witnessed my soapbox moments about religion, here is an article that just appeared on yahoo.

please keep in mind that i am not saying that JPII shouldn't get sainthood, what i am saying is that this is just an example of how man can manipulate "the rules" to interpret God's commands into something usable.

this article reads (to me) like historians trying to relate a Nostradamus quatrain after an event but that's another day :P

"The days of his funeral became for Rome and the world days of extraordinary unity, reconciliation and opening of the soul to God," Ruini said.

I agree with this sentiment, though. I think the funeral was kind of a pivotal time for me.

he was a great pope, no doubt. i'm not catholic and it made me sad that he was gone.

i just think it's sad since they can't prove any "miracles" that they now are "reaching" for martyrdom - stretching the rules to fit their need. everyone wants him to become a saint so make the man a saint already - make up a miracle - the fact that the man was even able to lift his head up at the end was a miracle from God through him. parkinson's is a terrible disease.

What about those doves he tried to release that kept flying back to him?

I say that's a miracle.
