My puppy was spayed today!

I put it off for so long. She is almost 8 months old and weighs 52 pounds. It was priced at $167.00 for dogs under 50 pounds and $187.00 for dogs over 50 pounds. 2 extra pounds cost me $20 bucks. (My mom sent me the money)
So--my advice to young kids who are considering what profession to study for is to go into veterinary medicine----that's where the bucks are!
Oh, well, I can't be too mad. This was a good thing. (I am physically handicapped and a dog who is in the house a lot with a period would be a total mess.)
I'll miss her though, but she can come home tomorrow.
After a couple of days of recovery its back to her dog school homework. She is doing so well. We're practicing sit-down-stay and sit-wait.

Edited by: Cheryl Anna at: 6/21/04 11:01 pm

You are so fortunate to have a dog.
I loved my dogs, sadly, I had to have them
put down, and that was one of the worst days of my life.
I had such great fun with them, we'd go toboganning and dog sledding.
Yes, animals are expensive but they are great friends,
they love you unconditionally.

I wish I had dogs too! I've grown up around dogs and I love them. In fact, there was a puppy at school today. I forget what kind it was, but it was so cute and so friendly. It looked like it was about seven months old. It was a sweetie. I miss having a dog of my own.

Kelly is home now.

Kelly is home now, sleeping. She has been very thirsty today. It's hard to keep her from jumping, sometimes-she jumps on my bed and because she's a puppy she jumps on people.
This morning she was so happy to go home that she jumped in Russ's, my friend, car.
After my other dog died in October, I was dog-less for four months. My life seemed so boring. (Since I am handicapped I am also a little reclusive.) She is a lot of company-and excercise.
I'll have to hold off on her homework from dog school until she recuperates a little, although, mostly she seems unfazed.

I had a Duck Attack, yesterday!

I'm glad Kelly is recuperating.
I had a weird experience yesterday.
I was coming out of the library and I heard these peeps,
I was curious and saw about 4 or 5 baby ducks, their
mother was hiding and there was about a 6" jump up.
The babies were running around so, I boosted some of
them up to the mother, then left.
Later that day I was passing by the same spot, so I
looked in on them and there they were following their
mother this time, I guess I came a little too close and the mother duck flew up at me, I quickly turned around and she slapped the back of my coat with her wing.
I was laughing and in shock at the same time.
And of course the mother duck was so loud that
people in the library even saw it happen.
I wonder if being attacked by a duck is light being attacked by the Paparazzi????

She is mostly golden retriever

She is very smart, too. We had a short walk today (Kelly has so much energy that I was afraid if she didn't have a walk she would start to bounce off the walls.)
She does not get her paws in my lap when I'm working on the computer. She did and I yelled at her "no", She doesn't do that anymore. But, if I stay on the computer too long, she growls at the computer.

Retrievers are great dogs.
They are so dedicated to their master and loving.
They are also good water dogs.
Sounds like you have a great dog.
We use to take our dogs to the beach with us.
One of them loved the water, the other didn't.

Awww, she sounds a little sweetie! It's best to get them spayed though. Every dog and cat I've ever owned has been spayed, they seem happier and friendlier too once it's done.

That´s so true that Retrievers are great. I´ve Golden Retriever, who is 1,5 years old.

But guys! Can you take the dogs to the beach with you?!
In Finland we can´t do that. It is against the (stupid) rules.
Fortunately my family has a cottage where my dog can go and swim so much than she wants to. :)

I don't think there is any rule, that I know of.
We are just suppose to use pooper scoopers and clean up doggie doo.
The city may not dogs in public swimming places beach etc.
but in the country I don't think there
is any set rule that I know.
Just don't let the dog run after people and stuff.
Some parks don't allow dogs, others do, it all depends where you are
in Canada.
