Hunter S Thompson started a movement called "Gonzo Journalism" in the late 60's early 70's. He's the first reporter to write his stories in the first person, wrote for Rolling Stone and was very controversial. Smart and funny, he wrote "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" which was eventually made into a movie with Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro (shown in the photo).

Here's link to Rolling Stone Magazine's article if you want to read more

Sucks he had to die. Fear and loathing the book was awesome. So was the movie. He is in one scene in the movie when he's looking back in the matrix club, There I was, mother of God! THere I am! RIP hunter.

Hi there Twigggy.

Hunter Thompson killed himself. He didn't get suicided for anything he was writing.

If you look at legit news sources, there's plenty of documentation about the facts of his sad demise.

Of Course you think that way and I dont care. But please you dont know what happened to hunter, neither do I. So Don't say that you do. He was working on an important story and any writer would not let that go by

There was a Rolling Stone that dedicated an entire issue to HST, all written by his closest friends and family. Apparently his health was declining to the point of him being confined to a wheelchair. A week before his buddies took him to a comedy event in which the bar was upstairs and he couldn't gain access to it. His buddies kept going back and forth from the party upstairs and back down to where he was. His friend said that was the day his spirit for living died. He felt he was becoming a burden to his family and became severly depressed. He called his wife after they had a huge blow out, he told her to come home and she said she would. He shot himself before he hung up the phone. His son and grandkids were in the next room. It is a horrific story and can't imagine running in and finding my father shot in the head. That's the story I read, written by his son. I don't think there's any conspiracy to his death.

So Don't say that you do.

But I do. I read the same info carreyd away just posted.

His son was there when he shot himself. Family and friends have answered all questions. There will be conspiracy theorists who will try to use his death for political motivation, but the man should be allowed to rest in peace in my opinion.

It is very sad, but Thompson had talked about ending his life in the past.
