Unfortunately, the review is not very positive, votes on rating sites aren't either. What I was very afraid of, is already happening. The recent events will hang over this like a dark shadow. That was predictable. A shame. It will effect at least 50% of the coming reviews from now on. Sad, sad, sad. It was whispered Carrey was indeed supposed to show up, but the premiere was without it and in a minor sphere.
Other events -as we all remember- influenced many opinions about Jim when Kick-Ass 2 and Burt Wonderstone came out. I'm afraid it will be the case even more so now. A shame all of this is happening, while career-wise interesting things are happening with his recent choices.
AdaL wrote:That review is a joke. What kind of supposed film critic can't differentiate between an actor and his past roles. The comment about waiting for Jim to break into a joke... wtf? Newsflash, dumbarse..he's an actor. If you only see him as a comedian, that's your problem, not his. He's already proven that he is a superb dramatic actor several times.
And call me naive, but this tabloid nonsense... what in the name of fuck does that have to do with anything? Are you telling me that supposed educated film critics are factoring that mindless and irrelevant crap into their opinion of his work? *gets ready to smash stuff*

On a side note: I wish I could get from crititcs a straight forward opinion: it's good, didn't thrill me, it sucks!
Makes it easier to read them and to write about them lol

As a person whose native language is not English, i'm sharing your feelings.
I read one more review on Hollywood reporter and it wasn't very positive either.
grinchy steve wrote:The very fact he thought about Jim doing this movie was making it more 'akwardly perverse' because of recent events, says it all.
grinchy steve wrote:What I meant with 'influenced', is the fact the case will be mentioned lots of times. Like that first review shows already. There was no point in referring to it, yet the writer did. The very fact he thought about Jim doing this movie was making it more 'akwardly perverse' because of recent events, says it all.
That said, I do read some critics. I do not agree everyone is a critic when it comes to saying something interesting about movies. But yeah, I do get what was meant by it. I agree on that level.
