That sounds like awesome news if it gets confirmed.

I can see this movie being the comedy equivalent to The Prestige. Though if he does sign on I think it might be best if was placed as the partner of which ever rival teams. wouldn't hurt the movie because it get promoted with him and Carrell as top bill.

fingers crossed we see comedy scenario to the transported man trick.

Sounds like there's no women in the movie

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttt

Will they go with the traditional part where the woman is
always in the box and she gets to be sawed
Why don't the men ever go in the box eh???

I think he's really gonna do the movie.
At least according to the IMDB website, his name is already attached to the movie:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0790628/

And also is on pre-prodution:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000120/

I don't know if you can trust thos website but I believe in it contrary to tabloid sites.

Looks like it is confirmed about Jim and Steve. Now Steve Buscemi is being offered the role as Carrell's partner. And James Gandolfini is being offered a minor role in the film.

According to Collider, Olivia Wilde has won the role as the female lead. She's OK in House MD, but I hated her in Cowboys & Aliens, where she was nothing more than a woman being beatiful. I hope the director, Don Scardino, will know what to do. His previous work is nothing that can be compared with a movie and is mostly ... well, it could have been directed by anyone, you know. You wouldn't notice the difference.

But hey, Steve Carrell & Jim Carrey in one movie ! [-o<

Jim Carrey begins filming in Las Vegas next week. The start is set to January 9th.

Longtime Las Vegas favorite, magician Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell), and his sidekick, Anton Lovecraft (Steve Buscemi), have allowed their show to grow stale, while up-and-coming Steve Haines (Jim Carrey), is stealing the limelight.
Entitled, cynical and jaded, Burt finds himself out of a job and broke, while Anton heads to Cambodia to spread the joy of magic to hungry villagers. It takes Burt's original mentor, Rance Hanson (Alan Arkin), to talk sense into glum Burt, as well as a good kick in the keester by his adoring assistant, Jane (Olivia Wilde), to get Burt on track - back doing magic with all the zeal and passion that compelled him as a youngster...

I've been looking up online some of the latest magicians
and I think the question is
Would the 18 's - 35 demographic group
be mystifyied by Steve Haines? Would his
techniques be advanced, fast and mystic enough
to draw in their attention.
Once Jim has the tricks down he should try them
on his daughter and see what she thinks. She is in that group.
I believe Jane would give him her honest opinion.

I have a difficult time keeping up to my kids,
this will be a challenge for Jim, I'm sure.

I saw Sherlock Holmes this week and I liked the way
the visual bombardment worked, I don't know if this
movie could use similar effects.
