I'm glad he signed something. But why this project?
I don't believe in Mark Waters. As I said before, 'Freaky Friday' was ok and 'Spiderwick Chronicles' was very enjoyable, but 'Just Like Heaven', 'Mean Girls' and 'Ghosts of Girlfriends Past' were terrible, real comedy-killers.
I guess this famous book will have a lot of fans going "Jim Carrey is not our Mr. Poppers" ... I'm just dissapointed that so many of the very interesting projects didn't make it and now he's going for this safe family-movie. With the animals involved this is a risky thing, will they be real, will they be CGI, will it be "realistic" to see Carrey next to those creatures ... and is this even a interesting role?
I know, I sound negative about this. But I simply don't believe in this choice of movie.
Maybe it will be a nice suprise, still possible.
I was afraid for 'The Number 23' for some reasons like this (choice of director) and although it was just 'ok', I was right about it.
