I understand what Characterman is saying. But it's a bit black and white, not? Where's the grey?
Sure, Jim can team up with another comedian, but there's many chance it goes wrong. Why? The guys you named that did the team-up in the '80s aren't hard to combine. The humor they brought was all in the same line.
The "problem" with Jim Carrey is the fact that he's unique. Is there any other comedian (were talking comedians, not actors) you can put next to him and go with his flow? I guess Steve Carell could do that ... maybe. But when it doesn't, you get two total different kinds of humor not fitting eichother. Also, there's the huge danger the makers wants them both to be equal funny. Cause you have two names to fill the screen. It would slow them both down of doing their own thing and go wild. "Jim Carrey" is one hell of a big name ... putting another next to it ... I don't hink it will work.
If we are talking about real actors who are able to pull of something funny, then it's a total different case, imo.
