Ok lets say they cannot get a distributor for the movie. What happens with it? Does it get released straight onto dvd or do they just basicly throw the movie in the bin?????

I doubt if they will throw it in the garbage...

Your talking 10 M$, that's not peanuts.

But sometimes a movie may not be timely for now
but timely later
may need to be tweeked to make it more acceptable to some
some people may be offended by the pre-clips
it may need to be toned down for now
and
released in it's originality at a later time
people may not be ready for it yet.
How much did Brokeback make, did they break even?
Some people are still quite traditional.
You have to do the research and look at the Demographics for now
What the target group for this movie?
Do they have expendable money right now?
Are they willing to spend on something that is more a curiosity than
informative or the way people want to be entertained.
Not sure how the research for the production was instituted

Shouldnt they have already thought of all that before they made the movie? It's not like someone says ok lets make a movie, heres the A grade actors. Lets film. then when its finsihed its not like "ok we showed it at sundance" thats it.

Be patient. There should be a good chance that they get a distributor in 2009.
