We have this book at home. I read it to my son a lot as a bedtime story. It's so lovely.

As with all Dr Seuss tales, he tells a story with wonderfully witty wording.
For example:

'And Horton called back, "I can hear you just fine.
But the kangaroos' ears aren't as strong, quite, as mine.
They don't hear a thing! Are you sure all your boys
Are doing their best? Are they ALL making noise?
Are you sure every Who down in Who-ville is working?
Quick! Look through your town! Is there anyone shirking?" '

It's a great little story. I neevr thought of it as one of Seuss' most famous tales, but we always liked it. So I'm glad they're doing this film.

Horton is a real hero! :D
Everybody should believe in something.
I believe I'll have another coffee!

i have remember reading the book as a kid. i thought alright, mainly b/c i wasn't into reading as a kid. i loved the movie. i always thought chuck jones only did looney tunes, until i saw Horton. it's been so long since i've seen it that i don't remember much of it.

i wasn't to familar with these until a few hours ago, i was looking at the pictures and reading the title on here, when it finally came to me that i might have these on video. i own the cartoon version of how the grinch stole christmas and i remember there was another cartoon that came with it.

so i went looking around were my videos are, i found it and what knew, it was the extra cartoon on the grinch video. i put it in and watched it.

there is no mayor in the cartoon version. is steve carrell doing the voice of the who that horton is hearing on the speck of dust? because if he is, than the who in the cartoon is a doctor named hoovey. and yes the grinch does make a cameo, and so does cindy lou who too. there are many songs in the cartoon, it would be interesting to see if there well be any of them in the movie or not, it would be nice to hear Jim singing one of the songs.

I've collected an entire library of Dr. Seuss books throughout
my youth, but I never read "Horton hears a Who." My brother
has the original movie of Horton though, so I know what the
story is about. :)
