Indeed. I was pretty amped on this project that The Farrelly's have had in the works for years. Just found out tonight he won't be Curly and yeah, my sentiments exactly: hugely dissappointed. I wonder why he quit. Perhaps creative differences with the actors, or with the Farrellys? I do know the Farrelly's called him a terrific, genuinely nice person on "The Tonight Show" when promoting "Irene" so their personalities don't seem to clash at least. Maybe Jim signed up for other movies, and this one's just taking too long (haven't been real up-to-date on his movie schedule) but yeah it sucks.

And PG being in the movie--man, him and Jim together would have been fantastic! Thought they had terrific chemistry in "Man on the Moon."

My guess is he's going to be pretty much occupied with Ripleys, my bet is there was going to be a logistical clash with his other projects.
I'm still waiting to hear about Damn Yankees........he's got a great set of pipes on him.....

Yes, Damn Yankees will be a lot of fun to watch with Jim singing as the Devil!{It's fun watching him sing in everything}. He's been wanting to get Ripley's made for a while, and he'll be doing that first off on a list of good projects he's got lined up.

I agree. And no, this is NOT a great opportunity for Jim. Glad he's out.

Del Toro said "if they do it, I’m definitely going to be there...Jim Carrey and Sean Penn. But nothing is for sure; it’s not locked.”

Which is more leanding towards Jim not doing it. He had gained weight, but that was probably him letting himself go rather than him getting ready for the role, there's not even a date in place for the movie to start shooting yet. Del Toro said himself that nothing's set in stone.

Jim said he gained the weight for the role. Strangely I think these actors know no more then us and are just going by what they read on the net. Its like when there was rumors that Jim was going to be the Million Dollar man movie and he told everybody on tv about how he was going to be in it then the next year he told us that the script didn't even exist.lol
