grinchy steve wrote:Since its the production company behind films as 'Eternal Sunshine' and 'Babel' and the script has been described as a mix between 'Being John Malcovich' and 'Lars and the Real Girl', I think there's a chance this is more indie. I kinda hope so. If this is another big studio-flick, like 'Yes Man' or 'Bruce Almighty', I think there's a chance it sucks. This script needs another handling.

And I love Jodie Foster, a woman with balls you know. But I like to see her in front of the camera, she's not that talented as a director imo. And please, not someone like Tom Shadyac, no sir.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Jim gets this role. If he can do this one and keep The Three Stooges and Damn Yankees. His near future is looking very good.

I agree. And with "Pierre, Pierre" among those, it looks like interesting Carrey-years.

A director for Beaver ... I'm thinking Alexander Payne or Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Faris.

Ah I forgot about Pierre Pierre. I'm really excited about that one too.

FOSTER TO DIRECT Carrey?

Funnyman Jim Carrey could soon be taking orders from JODIE FOSTER - the actress is in talks to direct his new film THE BEAVER.

I'm dissapointed by the news but here it is :

Carrey is out, Gibson is in.

It just got confirmed that Mel Gibson will take the lead role in the Jodie Foster movie 'The Beaver'. :( Not that I don't like Mell Gibson, but this is a movie I really wanted to see with Jim. Specially after seeing 'Yes Man', I want our Jim to do more indie-movies and stuff.

i read he was just being considered....... :( .............i'm gutted if it's true, Mel will be totally miscast.........it needs to be someone the public actually like.......Mels hardly got a likeable image.........it should be someone with empathy who can master the idea of bittersweet humour...........Mel is a dire choice.......... :(

He signed, so it's for real. I like Mel Gibson, he knows what timing is and has a very natural way to bring that crazy side alive, but I'm dissapointed that it's not Jim.

So, this means 'The Beaver' is out, 'Three Stooges' has problems, 'Ripley' is still not very alive, 'Used Guys' is back on track but without Jim, ... I feel like a few years ago when many things got cancelled. :(

So ... I hope 'Pierre, Pierre', 'O'Gunn' and 'Damn Yankees' are still in and stay that way. [-o<

Me too. That's lame that Mel got it, but you know what Jim says, the right scripts find him. So it's just not meant to be.

After "The Number 23" and "Yes Man" I'm beginning to doubt about his 'right scripts thing'. (not that 'Yes Man' was bad btw, but he can get a lot better)

i think Mel and Jodie are the wrong choices for that film..........i guess time will tell, but Mel's lost his public support now and Jodie's hardly a bundle of fresh ideas and fun............lol......   She'd have been totally wrong to direct Jim for sure...........
